Since 1941, Phil's Electric Company
has been a fixture in San Francisco's Marina District. The Phil's Electric
story began in World War II when Phil Sidari was commissioned to make
artificial limbs for returning disabled veterans. After the war, Phil built homemade small appliances out of spare parts,
since limited finished goods were available. Phil built his business
on a foundation of honest and conscientious work.
After 30 years of hard work, Phil retired to his backyard workshop in
Corte Madera. In the late seventies, Bob and Vicki Evans took over Phil's
Electric. Bob trained under Phil's expertise and continued to repair
vacuums and lamps. Then Bob and Vicki added small appliance repair and sales,
electric shaver repair and sales, and custom lamp making to their growing list of
services.
To meet growing demands for a larger selection of retail items, in 1982 Phil's
Electric Company moved from the Fillmore Street
location to a larger shop on the corner of Lombard and Baker. The
goal was to make Phil's Electric a one-stop shop. Phil's Electric now sells
home and commercial vacuums, vacuum parts and bags, small appliances,
electric shavers, and cleaning supplies. We also repair lamps and
chandeliers, and specialize in custom lamp design.
Bob and Vicki's concerns about both global and home environments led to the addition of
air cleaners and the Miele® line of vacuum products.
Miele® is the industry leader in filtration systems.
Recently, their son, Ken, joined Phil's Electric to
help run the family business and to preserve the tradition of excellence
that is courtesy and customer service.
